Wesley Jackson and Bradley Rutledge Honored at
Governor's All-Star Dinner
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger hosted the first annual Academic All-Star Recognition Awards Dinner on March 11, 2008 in Sacramento. Madera County was represented by Bradley Rutledge from Chowchilla Union High School District and Wesley Jackson from Yosemite High School. The Governor highlighted the extraordinary achievements of high school seniors from across the state. One hundred forty-four students were recognized at the dinner for their outstanding academic and extra-curricular activities. Madera County’s representatives were selected on the basis of having received the top scores at the Madera County Academic Decathlon competition. The Governor also named 25 of the 144 students to California’s first All-State Academic Team.
The 25-member All-State Academic Team was chosen by the Governor’s Office based not only on grade point average (GPA), SAT scores and class rank, but also extra-curricular activities.
Dr. Sally L. Frazier, Madera County Superintendent of Schools, led the Madera County delegation which included: Sara Wilkins, President, Madera County Board of Education; Ron Seals, Superintendent Chowchilla Union High School District; Bill McCabe, Superintendent, Yosemite Unified School District; and Steve Raupp, Principal, Yosemite High School. They were joined by Bradley’s parents, Glen & Carrie Rutledge and Wesley’s parents, Sue Jackson and Jeff Hunter.
“I think it is extremely important that we take the time to honor the hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence all of these students have demonstrated,” said Governor Schwarzenegger.
One of the highlights of the evening for Bradley and Wesley was the opportunity to personally meet the Governor. Photo opportunities were afforded each student prior to the dinner.
