The Madera Educational Foundation began as the Linkage program in 1981 to serve as a link between business and schools. In 1987, non-profit status was obtained and the Madera Linkage Foundation was formed. In 1999, the Foundation refocused its commitment to education and was rededicated as the Madera Educational Foundation. Last year, more than $10,000 in teacher mini-grants were given to implement innovative ideas in the classroom. MEF is also proud to partner with the Darin M. Camarena Health Centers, Inc. to provide matching grants for qualified applicants.
The goals of MEF include:
- To increase community awareness
of success in Madera Unified schools
- To broaden community support for MUSD
- To support innovative programs that contribute to increased student achievement
- To provide recognition to exemplary student, staff and community members; efforts toward meeting the MUSD mission
